Health Science Emphasis

The Health Science emphasis explores how to advance public health through the current health care system. While many of the students acquiring a degree in Health Science go on to some type of clinical work, many others get jobs in related public health fields.

The courses in the Health Science Emphasis are designed to help students prepare to work in one of the following settings:

  • An entry or mid-level position in public health agencies or public health-related practice
  • For-profit and non-profit health agencies and organizations
  • Health care organizations as health educators, health navigators, or health program managers
  • Community health promotion
  • Research assistantships
  • Lower-level positions in government public health departments
  • Pursue a master’s degree in general public health or in a specific focus such as health policy, infectious and chronic disease epidemiology, biostatistics, molecular biology, physiology, or health education; or to
  • Obtain advanced degrees in the health care and allied health fields such as health services administration, medicine, dentistry, physician assistantship, occupational therapy, physical therapy, public health nursing practice, or medical dietetics.
